Adam Summey (they/them) is a nonbinary composer, arranger, and trombonist. They were born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1998 and graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelors in Music Performance/Composition/Theory in 2021. They have written for a range of instrumentations and ensemble types with their music being performed by groups such as the Stephen F. Austin State University Trombone Choir, Appalachian Video Game Ensemble, Bryson Middle School Wind Band, Appalachian State University Trombone Choir, Hillcrest High School Red and Black Brigade, Phi Mu Alpha Rho Tau Brass Choir, Appalachian Steely Pan Steel Band, and Bent Frequency. They have also had world premieres at the International Trombone Festival and the Charlotte New Music Festival.
Adam is always interested in pursuing new things both in writing and performing. In addition to experience and interest in composing and performing new music they also have experience in writing for the marching arts and interest in scoring for films, television, and video games. Currently Adam is pursuing an MFA in Film Music Composition at University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
